Lydden hill circuit has taken the huge decision not to run the 2 day BDC drift event set for July 22nd & 23rd.
Despite being very supportive of the BDC championship, it has been decided that the competition format used when running these hugely powerful drift cars which create high levels of noise and smoke, would impinge on the good relationships that have been built with the local council and community.
Pat Doran spokesman for Lydden Hill said that last year we decided to take steps to create a new format for drift events at the circuit called Sideways Saturdays. Working closely with competitors and following the new regulations which the circuit now runs under, this new style event ensures a great days sport, but is also strictly managed to ensure a huge reduction in noise and smoke levels that not will intrude on neighbouring properties and impact on the local community".
Pat went onto say that The BDC championship is a fantastic series but comes to the circuit as a formatted event of which we have little control over and we cannot run the risk of upsetting the equilibrium we have achieved to date by excessive noise and smoke. We are sorry that we have had to cancel this event but feel we have made the right decision to ensure the future of other events at Lydden hill circuit.
