Created on Tuesday, 09 May 2017 23:59:00

24 600bhp Supercars will descend upon Lydden Hill on 27-28 May in round five of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy. In addition to the 18 permanent drivers a further six will join the World RX line-up at the home of rallycross taking the total countries represented across Supercars, TouringCars and RX2 to 14.

A triple winner already this season matching the ten set by double champion Petter Solberg, Mattias Ekstrom heads the entry and is one of three drivers to have taken the World RX winner’s spoils in Kent. Alongside previous winners Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud (2014) and Solberg (2015), come a plethora of other top International stars.

Among them American Ken Block, Frenchmen Sebastien Loeb and JB Dubourg, Timmy and Kevin Hansen, Johan Kristoffersson and Kevin Eriksson (Sweden), Russian ace Timur Timerzaynov, Reinis Nitiss and Janis Baumanis (Latvia) and Finns Toomas ‘Topi’ Heikkinen and Niclas Gronholm will be looking for their first win of the season.

Four Britons will be upholding home honours; former British Rally Champion Guy Wilks the only permanent Briton in World RX this season, 2013 BTCC champion Andrew Jordan standing in for Timo Scheider, Ollie O’Donovan a podium-sitter in the opening round of Euro RX, and rallycross newcomer Oliver Bennett.

Completing the Supercar line-up are former Super1600 and Touring Car Champion Michael De Keersmaecker and Gregoire Demoustier (Belgium), Rene Muennich (Germany), ‘CSU CSU’ (Hungary) and Martin Kaczmarski (Poland).
